There is much that can be learned about our deliverance from sin through Christ Jesus as we participate in a Passover Seder meal that recounts God's deliverance of the ancient Israelites from bondage in Egypt.
Carl Witten and I have recorded a video of our family using the Haggadah to guide us through the entire meal. You can use the video in two ways.
- You can watch the video ahead of your meal to understand the rhythm and flow and then lead your own meal from the Haggadah. The video materials that we present in the demonstration Seder will be available for you to use in your own celebration.
- Or, you can set the Seder table, prepare your meal, and allow us to lead you through the elements of the ceremony by way of the video.
In either case, I recommend reading through the Haggadah to familiarize yourself with its content...especially in arranging all of the elements that are used in the symbolic part of the meal. The Haggadah has a brief glossary of terms, a list of items (most of them provided in your kit) that are necessary at the table, along with photos of our demonstration Seder that can help as a guide.
The first part of the celebration takes approximately one hour, after which a ‘Festival Meal’ is served. After your meal, you will return to the final act of the ceremony, which takes about fifteen minutes. So you will want to plan your time accordingly. And remember, you can conduct your Seder at any time that is most convenient for you and your family.
