Yehovah Bless You and Why I Do This Blessing

In Numbers 6:22, 23 we see Yehovah tell Moses to tell Aaron, and his sons, “this is how you are to bless the people of Israel, you are to say to them.”

Yehovah bless you and keep you;
Yehovah make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
Yehovah lift up His countenance upon you, and give you shalom.
Numbers 6:24-26

“In this way they are to put my name on the people of Israel, so that I will bless them. (verse 27)”

In verse 23 Yehovah makes it clear how the preists are to bless the people, “this is how you are to bless the people.”

In verse 27 Yehovah makes it clear that when the priests “put” God’s Name on the people he will bless them, “so that I will bless them.”

In Exodus 3 God tells Moses that “I AM WHO I AM” (YHWH rendered as Yehovah or Yahweh) “is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.” In most english bibles YHWH is rendered LORD. But LORD is one of his titles, not his Name.

God promises to bless those who have his Name, I use Yehovah, put on/spoken over them.

I don’t know how God is going to bless you when I get to put his Name, Yehovah, on you, when you listen to this blessing, but I know he is going to becasue he said he would!!!

Father God has also called me to blow the shofar over people and places to invoke his presence. With his presence comes all his goodness, grace and love.

As priests (see Ex 19:6; Rev 1:6, 5:10) I believe we have the privelige to invoke/put God’s Name, Yehovah, on people so he will bless them.

“‘Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel. (Ex 19:5, 6)”

“John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood— and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (Rev 1:4-6)”

“And they sang a new song, saying, ‘Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth. (Rev 5:9, 10)'”
